Bushcraft & Traditional Games

Connect with nature and each other through outdoor fundamentals

The Land team facilitates workshops in traditional games and activities designed and practiced for centuries to practice agility and the fundamentals of living in nature.  Games include the foxtail highkick for agility, two and three-person carry for strength, stick wrestling for balance, stick-drop as a reflex test, block-walk for core-strength and even a Nalukataq, an Inuit-style throwing blanket, as the ultimate team and trust-building exercise.

I had the opportunity to participate in the Land’s team building programs for two consecutive years at the Next Generation Leaders conferences at Trent University. Their team creates an intense obstacle course, teaches outstanding traditional outdoor skills and offers a paddling experience on the Otonabee river. Highly recommended.
