What is your ideal morning? Is it being woken up by the songs of the first birds, unzipping cozy sleeping bags and emerging from tents to witness a glorious sunrise over a mist-shrouded lake in the remote reaches of Ontario? The low roar of a stove warming up water for coffee and the crackle of the morning cooking fire coming to life?

At least, that’s our ideal wake up call. The outdoors, to us, is an escape. Not from real life, but towards it. The outdoors is also an outlet. Within it, we are all free to be our true selves, unhampered by the norms of society – one of the most gratifying things to witness in a group setting out on a backcountry canoe trip is the bonding between people who might not otherwise find common ground. The outdoors is not just a place of passionate recreation, but of peaceful reflectance, of learning and growing.

Who are we? We’re The Land Canadian Adventures, an organization committed to providing the means for folks of all experience levels and walks of life to connect and learn through nature. We are based in North Kawartha, near the little town of Apsley, our homeplace from which we launch a wide variety of four-season outdoor experiences.

This July, we are running an immersive trip called the Young Leaders, a 6-day adventure down the Lower Madawaska River in which participants will push themselves and learn what it takes to undertake a canoe trip down a river. Designed for young explorers who already have a bit of experience handling canoes, this course will provide trippers with ORCKA certifications, officially attesting to their personal development as paddlers. The Madawaska is a well-known stomping ground for advanced whitewater paddlers and learners alike, and this trip will give us the chance to push past the basics of canoeing and cover more advanced maneuvers that give control and confidence in a rapid.

The Young Leaders are hitting the water from July 8th-13th 2019. Spaces are limited and spots are filling up! If the thought of learning to traverse and play in rapids in a canoe has you thinking of a particular young paddler, this might be just the trip to send their way.

Registrations can be made here and if you’ve got questions about this trip and how we can best accomodate you, please drop us an email at noah@thelandcanadianaventures.com

Hope the warm weather has you in a paddling mood! For those adventurers that may not be quite old enough to go tripping on their own, or a family looking for a day excursion, please join us at the Lakefield Paddle on Saturday June 29th, 2019!
